Planning the Trip

Before my trip I made sure to plan out the trip to have a good idea of how long the trip would be, an estimated cost and to find cool locations to visit on the way. Check out the world map for an interactive map.

As you can see, the route is pretty long. I also made a spreadsheet with some places to visit and popular tourist spots, as well as looking up required documents. One of the documents I need is the Carnet de Passage, which is a temporary vehicle import.

On top of that I also had to apply for the universities, which had me fill out a ton of documents. I applied for Aizu University first and got to visit the university on my vacation in Japan. For Japanese universities it is required to send the documents by letter, but I instead handed them in when I visited. I am also planning on applying for Osaka University, however, they haven’t opened for applications as of writing this.

Something I will also have to do before my trip is prepare my motorcycle. I have to fix the brakes and do some minor repairs, I will also have a mechanic look it over just to be sure it makes it as far as possible before I inevitably have to repair it on the road. I also have to affix my bags and pack my apartment into them, which will surely work out great. As of March 2025 I will no longer have an apartment in Denmark, so I have to bring as the things I need and only store a few things (such as my books, PC and clothes) at my parent’s place until I can bring it to Japan.
